aSAPXcess uses a J2EE technology based application model and uses J2EE application server as the integration server. This brings significant cost savings as J2EE application servers cost much lower than proprietary integration server products. As an option, a J2EE application server comes bundled with aSAPXcess at no additional cost.

At the core of the platform is a robust JCA (J2EE Connector Architecture) compliant Resource Adapter for standards based connectivity with SAP applications. JCA is the specification developed and approved by Java Community (comprising of SUN, Oracle, BEA, IBM etc.) for standards based integration of Enterprise Information Systems. 

The JCA based adapter has full support for Transaction, Connection and Security management. The adapter interfaces can be accessed by the standard JCA CCI (Common Client Interface) protocol. Additionally, a complete XML API set has been added to access the adapter interfaces using XML. It has support for Event capture and routing that has been implemented using an Open JMS based messaging layer.

The adapter uses SAP Java Connector (JCO) as the native communication layer with SAP thus ensuring support for all versions and applications of the SAP business application suite.

aSAPXcess has support for Web Services thus allowing its use as a middleware between SAP and any application technology platform.

Offers very high degree of portability, interoperability and scalability. Due to its open protocols based implementation, aSAPXcess platform can be deployed and ported on to any J2EE compatible platform. Its Web Services Oriented architecture allows seamless integration with applications on any technology platform. 

Apart from the business adapter, the platform Includes toolkit based product components for building rapid Web, application and Data integration applications. The toolkit components include open protocols J2EE based applicatons for easy web enabling and portal integration of SAP interfaces, a complete ETL toolkit for integrating data between SAP and other data sources to build custom integration applications specific to SAP enterprises.
